They cook their sliders to perfection, and they have that classic taste that you can't get anywhere else. It will be easy to tell why Bates is such a beloved place for residents of Livonia to frequent. You will find yourself ordering take out from Bates just about every single week, and the family will constantly be begging for you to order it.

lefty's Cheese Steak Hoagies

With a classic diner feel and remarkable sandwiches that will, simply put, completely blow you away, lefty's Cheese Steak Hoagies is one of the most unique and beloved places to grab a bite to eat in all of Livonia. Their cheese steaks are expertly crafted and hefty. Seriously, you'll have a hard time finishing the cheese steaks here at lefty's, but every bite deserves to be savored. Their menu isn't super deep, but it doesn't have to be because they have perfected every single thing on the menu. The service is quick and friendly, and they will always make you feel welcome when you walk into the door. They have a remarkable, vibrant interior with comfortable seating options. We strongly recommend that you try the Cheese steaks with the mushrooms & peppers, as well with extra cheese. If you're more in a corned beef mood, though, their Rubens are also nothing to pass up!

J. Alexander's

If you're looking for arguably the most fancy place in Livonia to grab a bite to eat and to sit down on a fancy date, then look no further than J. Alexander's on Haggerty Road. It is a boutique restaurant that focuses on providing the highest quality food possible and an outstanding professional service that is unmatched. The ambiance at J. Alexander's is unique, attractive, and beautiful. Walking into J. Alexander's you will feel like royalty, which makes it a fantastic spot for dates and special occasions. The aromas alone are absolutely incredible. They linger all throughout the restaurant and make your mouth water before you're even in the store yet. They have a rotating fish of the day that is always absolutely spectacular. Their wood-fired cuisine will absolutely blow you away with their classics such as the prime rib, steaks, fresh seafood, and salads. They also have a full bar with some of the finest wines you've ever tried. If you head in we strongly suggest the Ahi Tuna Steak, the featured fish of the day, or the Rotisserie Chicken. You also need to try their side of Smashed Potatoes or Heirloom Beets.

New York Sushi

When driving by New York Sushi you would not at first think very much of it. In fact, you might not even know that it's there because it is tucked into a strip mall on the busy Middlebelt road. However, when you step into the store, you are welcomed by the extremely warm and welcoming couple that owns the restaurant and is apparently the only two employees of the establishment. They always put forth an extra effort to make you feel happy and welcome. Their sushi is remarkably reasonably priced, and is some of the most inexpensive sushi in all of Livonia, or the surrounding area. You would think that with such inexpensive sushi, that the quality of the rolls would be sacrificed, but that is far from the truth. In fact, New York Sushi has some of the most fresh and delicious Sushi in all of the Livonia area. You really can't go wrong with a trip to New York Sushi, and we especially recommend the Livonia Roll! You will fall in love with the two owners, and they will learn your regular orders after just a few trips.

Thai Basil

Thai Basil is one of the most beloved spots in the entire Southeast Michigan area. It is regarded by many to be the best Thai food restaurant in the world. It is a remarkable family-owned restaurant which provides and serves fresh-tasting, delicious, and remarkably presented food that pleases both the eyes and the tongue. At Thai Basil they blend Northern Thai cooking styles with Southeastern Asia cuisine. This provides an excellent and unique blend that you've certainly never tried before. They take pride in their remarkable food and their excellent service. You will never see a server with a frown on their face, and they will make you feel welcome and happy from the minute you walk into the door. You will be satisfied with their fresh sushi that they serve at Thai Basil, which they don't always have sushi at Thai restaurants, so it's a welcome addition. If you head into Thai Basil then you absolutely must try their Pad Thai Curry with Tofu (extra Tofu, preferably), and you can't go wrong with an order of the Honor of the King Chef's Creation Entree.

Livonia Italian Bakery & Cafe

The celebrated Livonia Italian Bakery & Cafe is a fantastic place to utilize for many different purposes such as birthday parties, catering, and just sitting down with some friends at lunch if you want some excellent pizza, pastas, pizza rolls, or sandwiches. You'll be delighted that it is a mixture of a delicious bakery cafe and a small grocery store. You'll be able to go and pick up a delicious slice of pizza, a slice of pie, a pre-made pizza that you can go home and bake yourself, while also picking up some groceries like pastas, beans, paper towel, milk, and so on. Their pizzas are remarkable with homemade sauces and expertly crafted doughs and ingredients. They have a fantastic assortment of deli meats, gourmet sandwiches, salads, rotisserie chicken, soups, salads, and so on. Their bakery has plenty of breads, rolls, pizza rolls, and desserts such as cannolis. There is a 30 seat cafe & coffee bar that you can enjoy with two television sets that are typically set to new stations.
